TxDOT Paris District Road Report: Week of October 19, 2026

3 min read

The week of October 19 keeps the same two long-running projects moving in Paris, and adds the county's most important bridge closure: Plainview Road at Harris Creek stays closed for replacement work through the end of the month.

The TxDOT Paris District road report for the week of October 19, 2026, as published by KSST Radio and East Texas Radio, lists three tracked items in Lamar County. In Paris, crews continue installing sidewalk on both the north and south sides of BU 271 B from 18th Street SE to 34th Street SE, with temporary lane and shoulder closures during working hours. On US 82, drainage structure improvements continue from State Loop 286 in Paris toward the Bowie County line in Red River County, also under temporary lane and shoulder closures.

The largest impact is the Plainview Road bridge at Harris Creek. Contractor bridge replacement work has the bridge closed in both directions, and it will remain closed until the end of October 2026, with closure signs posted on approaching roads. Drivers crossing that drainage basin near the eastern edge of Lamar County should plan a detour for the next two weeks.

Two months of steady corridor investment

The BU 271 B sidewalk work and the US 82 drainage project have now appeared in Paris District reports since September, part of a routine maintenance cycle that nonetheless matters to property values. Sidewalk installation makes a commercial corridor more walkable and ADA-compliant, and drainage improvements protect the roadway that carries most of the city's retail traffic on the west side of the loop.

These smaller projects run alongside the big corridor programs: the US 271 four-lane widening south of Paris with its $29.3 million in FY 2026 programming, the Loop 286 improvement project inside the city, and the proposed US 82 West widening from the Fannin County line. Together they describe a district spending deliberately on the roads that carry its growth.

The read for 1905 E Price St

Road investment improves access, and access is what tenants underwrite. The property at 1905 E Price St is centrally located with dual road frontage, a combination that keeps it convenient as corridors around the city are upgraded and rebuilt. Bridge replacements like Plainview Road at Harris Creek also widen the rural catchment that feeds Paris businesses, extending the trade area deeper into Lamar County.
