Festival of Pumpkins Returns to Downtown Paris: October 24

About the festival

The Festival of Pumpkins is Paris's signature fall celebration, drawing roughly 10,000 visitors to the historic downtown core for a full day of seasonal fun. The plaza comes alive with live music and entertainment on a main stage, festival food vendors, a vendor market, kids' games and bounce houses, and a slate of contests that have become local traditions. Artist battles, cake walks, pumpkin pickleball, and photo stops around the plaza give the day something for every age.

The event is organized by the City of Paris with support from the downtown business community and Visit Paris Texas, and it doubles as one of the biggest foot-traffic days of the year for downtown retailers and restaurants. Street closures around the plaza go up early on the day of the event, so most visitors park in surrounding lots and walk in; the City of Paris website carries the official schedule and any day-of updates.

Why it matters for Paris

A one-day festival that pulls ten thousand people into a small city's historic core is one of the clearest demonstrations of downtown vitality in the region. It fills restaurant seats, drives retail sales, and gives property owners and investors a reliable annual proof point that the Plaza district can draw and hold a crowd. For anyone watching the commercial health of Paris, the foot-traffic numbers around events like this are worth tracking alongside the lease and listing data.
