TxDOT Paris District Road Report: Week of September 14, 2026

4 min read

The weekly TxDOT report is a quiet market tell: where the orange barrels are is where corridors are being readied for more traffic. The September 14 edition carries the most active slate yet this fall.

The TxDOT Paris District road report for the week of September 14, 2026 lists a steady slate of weather-dependent work across Paris, Lamar County, and the surrounding district. Knowing which corridors are under active work is a practical way to track where investment is landing right now.

Around Paris and Lamar County, SH 78 from FM 273 to the Oklahoma state line is under daytime lane closures for roadway rehabilitation, with signals and pilot cars directing traffic and delays expected. FM 274 from SH 78 to FM 1753 is under daytime closures to rehabilitate and widen the road to 26 feet. In Paris, crews continue sidewalk installation on BU 271 North Main Street from Price Street to Martin Luther King Drive, and First Street SW and South Main Street, from Hearne to Kaufman, are under temporary closures for bike lane installation and pavement and curb repairs. FM 905 at Big Sandy Creek has temporary lane and shoulder closures with trucks entering and exiting.

The SH 19 at Loop 286 bridge work continues, with the overpass reported closed through September 2026. Near Sherman, US 75 mainlanes keep two lanes open in each direction during daytime with occasional nighttime closures and a reduced 65 mph work-zone speed limit. In Fannin County, three bridge projects are complete and open to traffic, including CR 1202 at a Tributary of Brushy Creek, CR 2105 at Robert Springs Tributary, and CR 2410 at Tanyard Creek. In Hunt and Rains counties, FM 272 and FM 3297 are under daytime closures for leveling and seal coat work.

What the week-to-week work tells investors

The FM 274 widening to 26 feet and the SH 78 rehabilitation are rural corridor investments that widen the catchment around Paris. Sidewalk installation on North Main improves walkability between neighborhoods and the commercial core, while the bike lane and curb work on First Street SW supports the downtown revitalization. The closed Loop 286 overpass is a temporary constraint on the industrial corridor, but its repair protects a primary freight route.

Consistent TxDOT activity confirms the district is resourced and active rather than deferring maintenance. Road condition is one of the first things out-of-town buyers and site selectors notice, and work-zone signs are a visible signal that this corridor is being maintained and improved.

Planning your visit

Lane and shoulder closures stay temporary and shift by phase, so it pays to check the latest TxDOT Paris District road report before an afternoon of driving corridors. Schedules change weekly and weather can move the work, so verify current closures before traveling to tour a property or scout sites.
