Rodeo events and competitions
The Paris Texas Rodeo is sanctioned by UPRA, CPRA, CRRA, and ACRA with $14,500 in added money across the weekend. Competitive events include bull riding, bareback and saddle bronc riding, ladies breakaway roping, barrel racing, junior barrel racing, team roping, tie-down calf roping, and steer wrestling. Each night's performance runs approximately three hours with nonstop action.
For the youngest attendees, Mutton Busting gives kids ages 6 and under a chance to ride a sheep (with safety equipment and spotters) while a calf scramble runs for ages 6 to 12. A cash scramble for ages 5 and under rounds out the youth activities. Doors open at 7:30 PM with mutton busting before the main show begins at 8:00 PM both nights.
Tickets and admission
General adult admission is $10, with children's pricing available at the gate. Tickets can be purchased at Big Country Farm Center in Paris or at the arena on event nights. The rodeo grounds at 550 Clement Rd offer plenty of parking, and concessions including classic rodeo fare are available on-site both evenings.
A weekend tradition that defines Paris
The Paris Texas Rodeo has run for 67 consecutive years, making it one of the longest-running community events in Lamar County. It draws competitors from across Texas and the surrounding region, fills local hotels and restaurants, and generates the kind of economic activity and community spirit that signals a healthy, invested small city. For commercial property investors, a community that sustains a 67-year rodeo tradition is a community with deep roots and lasting value.
The rodeo weekend also includes a downtown parade on Saturday morning (Aug 8, 10:00 AM) and Late Night Shopping in downtown Paris on Friday evening (Aug 7) — making the first full weekend of August one of the busiest and most vibrant on Paris's calendar.
